The “jewel” of the shared office space on the 2nd floor is the Knight Conference Suite. These three historically significant and beautifully restored conference rooms were the former executive offices of then publisher Charles L. Knight and his managing editor son John S. Knight, when their first newspaper – the Akron Beacon Journal – was launched in 1927.
Several enlargements of old photographs of the same space are displayed on the handsome oak paneled walls throughout the three room suite. The formal “club room” décor with high ceilings, chandeliers and mullioned glass-front cabinetry preserves the past while providing an interesting contrast with the contemporary feel of the remainder of the 2nd floor.
Overlooking East Market Street with its large windows, the Knight Conference Suite includes:
- Board room with table seating 10 – 12 comfortably
- Lounge area
- Open conference room for variable set-ups.
In addition to meetings, seminars, workshops and presentations, the Knight Conference Suite also works well for small receptions.
Office tenants at Summit Artspace receive priority scheduling for the Knight Conference Suite, but the rooms are also available as rentals to AAAA members and the general public as well. Located next to the Suite, a kitchenette provides easy access for serving catered food and beverage.
